Meet Dan

Dan Hurt has had the honor of serving as an elected leader of Chesterfield since 1989. With a deep commitment to public service, he works tirelessly to ensure that Chesterfield remains a place of opportunity, innovation, and recreation in service to the families that live here.  Dan is dedicated to improving infrastructure, supporting access to world class school districts, and ensuring that neighborhoods are safe and have services that enable families to thrive.

A Record of Service

With thirty years of service as a Chesterfield Councilmember and elected six times as President Pro Tem of the City Council by his fellow councilmembers, Dan has led with integrity and a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to Chesterfield residents. His past leadership roles include Chairing both the Planning and Zoning Committee, and the Finance and Administration Committee of the City Council, where he tackled complex challenges and delivered results that have shaped Chesterfield’s future.

Champion for American Innovation

As the Owner and Operator of two U.S. manufacturing companies—St. Louis Pneumatic and Stoner Machining— Dan Hurt has built a career creating high-quality, "Made in USA," products. Under his leadership, these businesses have employed American workers, represented Missouri at the 2018 White House “Made in America” Showcase, and contributed to the strength of our nation’s economy.  

Dan earned an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Washington University in St. Louis. His early career included positions at Monsanto, Sherwood Medical, Watlow Electric, and McDonnell Douglas.

Commitment to Community and Values

A devoted husband to Rhonda for 49 years and proud father of two Parkway School District graduates, Justin and Jenna, Dan values family and community above all else. He is an active member of Ascension Church and a past YMCA West County Board Manager, where he also serves as a martial arts instructor. An Eagle Scout and past committeeman of Troop 848, he embodies the principles of service, leadership, and character that have guided his life and career.
